Purpose

The purpose of starkits is to package applications written in Tcl/Tk for easy distribution and use: as a single file.

One difference with conventional installers, is that starkits can be launched without unpacking. This saves time, avoids installation conflicts, leads to software which does not stop functioning when other software is installed, makes upgrading simple, and perhaps best of all... makes the process of using software transparent and trivial.

A difference with other wrapping mechanisms, is that there's a database engine underneath starkits, so they can store settings and complete datasets, as well as modify themselves (reliably, a power fail automatically reverts to a previous state).
