Kare Sjolander <kare@speech.kth.se> - 25 Nov 1999 - comp.lang.tcl
New version of Snack Version 1.6.3 introduces new commands/options and contains several bug fixes. Support for handling large audio files on disk has been improved through the option to use pre-computed waveforms for fast display. The Snack sound extension for Tcl/Tk adds commands to play and record audio. Snack supports in-memory sound objects, file based audio, and streaming audio, with background audio processing. It handles fileformats such as WAV, MP3, AU, AIFF, and NIST/Sphere. Snack is extensible, new commands and sound file formats can be added using the Snack C-library. Snack also does sound visualization, e.g. waveforms and spectrograms. The visualization canvas item types update in real-time and can output postscript. Snack works with Tcl8.0.3 - Tcl8.2.2. It is possible to run scripts embedded in web pages through the use of the Tcl plug-in. Platforms: Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX and Windows95/98/NT. Source and Binaries can be downloaded from http://www.speech.kth.se/snack/ Regards, Kare Sjolander kare@speech.kth.se
