Subject: Configuration management with RCS and Tcl/Tk - DN [1]

softmick@my-deja.com - 18 Nov 1999 - comp.lang.tcl

I am announcing the first public release of SRCE.
 Simple Revision Control Engine.

SRCE is change control or configuration management tool built on top of
 RCS.
The concept is inspired by the book "Applying RCS and SCCS : From
Source Control to Project Control " by Don Bolinger, Tan Bronson, Mike
 Loukides (Editor). O'Reilly & Associates.

SRCE supports a typical software release cycle for a project (a set of
 files).
 Cycle 0.1:
   0.1Alpha1 > 0.1Alpha2… > 0.1Beta1… > 0.1Full > 0.1Patch1…
 Cycle 0.2:
   …

SRCE also provides access to all common RCS functions at the touch of a
button as well as providing project and file metrics in graphical
 format.

SRCE has been in use by me for almost two years and small groups for
 several months.
It may have a few problems to iron out, but is essentially working and
 stable.

I am looking for people to try it out and comment.

Please go to http://www.mistral.dabsol.co.uk/SoftMick/index.html for a
download and full on-line documentation (also comes with the download).
