Subject: Re: Bug Tcl 8.2b2 Increased number of test suite failures - DN [1]

Threads: We are trying our best to get them working properly (resource constraints). Windows is in very good shape (tcl anyway) but Unix needs a little work (not too much though, I think). Tk is definitely experimental still. We would like to get a dual-cpu Solaris box to verify that everything is really OK on Unix (after the problem that you're seeing is fixed). NT works fine with 2 cpus, with one remaining bug. Strings: If it's not reported as a bug in our bug database, it's not getting handled (our plate was pretty full). In any case, what's there now is pretty much 8.2.0 except for one obvious bug fix, a regexp patch to make it faster, and a thread patch to allow plugging in other thread systems. In fact, I think that the "binary string handling" may be "correct behavior" at this time. We are looking at some changes that may fix this for 8.3, Jeff Hobbs may comment on that (as soon as we know for sure). -- Scott lvirden@cas.org wrote: > > According to Scott Redman <redman@scriptics.com>: > :The test failures are sporadic and happen semi-randomly, > :but only with --enable-threads. > > Scott, what is the state of Tcl 8.2.0 and threads - are they still considered > experimental?
