 the normal way that things are distributed are to use dropstuff
 to create a .sit file, and then binhex that, to end up with
 a .sit.hqx file.  i'm not sure about the windows version, but
 i know in the mac one you can set preferences to do this in one
 go.

 also, stuffit expander on the mac, which most people have, will
 unpack things in other formats such as .zip, though if you've
 got mac-specific files (i.e. with resources) you'd want to
 go with .sit.hqx of course.
