Subject: Tcl vs Python - DN [1]

Kristoffer Lawson <setok@fishpool.com> - 07 Jun 2000 - comp.lang.tcl

I'm not interested in starting up a flamewar but, as I'm not familiar
with Python, I'd like a list of features that separates Tcl
(plus [incr Tcl] or XOTcl) from the kind of environment Python offers.

The reason I ask for this is that a couple of people I work with are
trying to work out what script language to use, possibly in some embedded
systems. For whatever reason they seem to be convinced that Python is
the right choice (without much knowledge of Tcl). I don't want to brainwash
them or anything. Just offer a list of how Tcl (plus some possible OO
extendion) differs fundamentally from what Python has to offer. That
way they can make up their own minds about what they see.
