 I am using tcl for cgi scripting, and would like to be able to include
 the username/password pair preemptively when requesting information
 from a directory using basic authentication.  I understand the data
 needs to be base64 encoded (whatever that means).  Does anyone know
 where I can get a tcl function to do this conversion?  Is there an
 easier way?
