Subject: TCL Stability - DN [1]

I recommended embedding the TCL interpreter into our
application server. There are questions from the project team
members about the stability of the TCL interpreter. We plan
to embed the TCL interpreter version 8.2+ into a Java application.
If we only write TCL scripts that uses the built-in commands
plus the Expect package, will we run into problems such as
null pointers and core dumps? We will not be using Tk. We may
load other TCL only packages that do not depend on C any extensions.
I am interested in knowing your experiences using the TCL
interpreter. Is the TCL interpreter easy to crash, very stable,
or impossible to break? I haven't used TCL since 1993. As a
result, I don't have any idea on how well it is working today.
Thanks.
