Hello, you can find out more about me at http://www.equi4.com/jcw/, or contact me at mailto:jcw@equi4.com - Tot ziens!

Some pages I have started on this wiki:

Hello Jean-Claude. I'm curious as to why you decided to start a second Lua wiki. I could imagine several reasons so please don't take my question as an attack. With the Lua community being rather small (and the number of wiki-aware people within that being even smaller), it seems unfortunate to divide up our energy.

Ah now I saw your note on the home page. Regarding the login, it is quite painless and Swiki.net does not seem to mind if one enters bogus information. Via cookies your login is remembered so it doesn't have to be entered for each visit. I haven't had to log in since the wiki was first started.

Although I much prefer the classic wiki syntax like this site, neither of the two organizations with free wiki hosting offer it. But two certain advantages of Swiki.net are the file upload area and being able to insert blocks of preformatted source code as is, which are essential to a wiki with a practical programming theme.

Hello John, please note that this site has not been announced publicly. I agree that we should try to team up and provide a single mechanism, or at least a very clear differentiator. I've just sent you an email with some thoughts on this. The upload sounds good, but would be harder to keep on track with an open system such as WiKit. In my experience, the lack of it is not necessarily a problem, the wiki concept does not automatically have to be extended to public file storage - existing solutions may be sufficient. As for preformatted source, there are currently two mechanisms in Wiki: indenting by at least one space, and giving the page title a ".txt" suffix. There are no doubt several ways to improve on this.
