Tclkit releases - level 1

These are the primary Tclkit builds, see Tclkit release policy for details.

Download from https://www.equi4.com/pub/tk/8.4.2/ - for general use.

LINUX X86 - maintained by Coen Siegerink

There are two variants, neither is built with genkit due to special linkage requirements:

tclkit-linux-x86: built with dynamic libs, but -lstdc++ and -lz are statically bound to avoid a runtime dependency (built on Mandrake 7.2, gcc 2.95.3)
tclkit-linux-x86static: built fully static (should run anywhere, but may not work with all extensions, nor support extended-char X11 input methods (Gentoo 1.4rc2, gcc 3.2.2)

The former is preferred, and considerably smaller. The static build should run on any ELF-based Linux, and will support Tk on a remote X11 display even if no X11 libraries have been installed.

There are upx-compressed versions, small enough to include on a diskette with hundreds of Kb's left for apps and data.

SOLARIS SPARC - maintained by Steve Landers

This release is built on Solaris 7. It also runs on 8 and 9.

tclkit-solaris-sparc: statically linked to libstdc++, needs X11 shared libs to run Tk.

WINDOWS - maintained by Coen Siegerink

All binaries are built with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.

tclkit-win32: GUI mode, starts with Tk loaded
tclkit-win32-sh: console mode, does not include Tk

There are upx-compressed versions, small enough to include on a diskette with hundreds of Kb's left for apps and data.
